The Council of Delegates for Student Life (CVLC) meets several times a year, working on a specific agenda to formulate opinions and proposals.
CVLC meetings
Before each meeting of the school’s Board of Directors, the CVLC is convened by the head teacher.
It can also meet in extraordinary session, if half of the student representatives so request.
CVLC agenda
The head of the school sets the agenda. He or she includes all items requested by at least half the members of the council and which fall within his or her remit.
Role of the C.V.L.C.
The Student Life Council puts forward proposals on :
– issues relating to the general principles of school organization, the organization of school time, the development of the school project and internal regulations, as well as issues relating to facilities, catering and boarding;
– the organization of personal work and support for students, as well as linguistic and cultural exchanges in partnership with foreign educational establishments;
– actions aimed at improving student well-being and the school climate, and promoting participatory practices;
– implementation of the educational pathways set up at collège ;
– training student representatives.
The students issue opinions and make proposals that are brought to the attention of the school council. The council of delegates for student life has the following responsibilities:
1° it makes proposals on the training of student representatives,
2° it must be consulted on :
questions relating to the general principles of study organization, the organization of school time, the development of the school project and internal regulations, as well as catering and boarding issues;
general terms and conditions for the organization of personal work, individualized support, measures to help students change direction, support and assistance for students, and linguistic and cultural exchanges in partnership with European and foreign educational establishments;
information on guidance, school and university studies, and professional careers;
health, hygiene and safety, and the layout of areas dedicated to school life;
the organization of sports, cultural and extracurricular activities. The Vice-Chairman of the Council of Delegates for Student Life presents the Council’s opinions and proposals to the Secondary School Council and the School Board, as well as the minutes of its meetings.
Composition and operation :
The School Life Council is made up of:
– the head of the school, who chairs,
– student representatives,
– at least two staff representatives, one of whom must be a teacher
– at least one parent representative.
The governing board decides on the number and status of CVLC members, the procedures for electing or appointing its members, its operating procedures and the conditions under which its proposals are submitted to it.
Members of the School Life Council are elected or appointed no later than the end of the calendar year following the start of the school year.
CVLC opinions and proposals
At each meeting, the CVLC issues opinions and makes proposals. It also prepares meeting minutes. All minutes are brought to the attention of the Board of Directors, and may be posted in the building.
The CVLC may also draw up its own rules of procedure, in compliance with current regulations.
