Role
The Health and Safety Commission (CHS) is consulted on the following matters:
- health and safety of the educational community ;
- proposing health and safety training programs for members of the educational community;
- compliance with and monitoring of all health and safety regulations;
- results of fire and intrusion drills
- security measures to be taken in liaison with the embassy and the AEFE security advisor.
The commission can propose actions or measures to be implemented in these different areas, at the very least in compliance with the provisions of local law.
In carrying out their duties, committee members will be given every opportunity to participate actively (site visits, participation in drills (e.g. fire drills, etc.).

Composition
The Health and Safety Commission provided for in Article L. 231-2-2 of the French Labor Code comprises :
- Head of School, Chairman ;
- The facility manager ;
- The Principal Education Advisor on the Board of Directors ;
- The works manager ;
- The representative of the local authority ;
- 2 staff representatives for teaching staff ;
- 1 staff representative for administrative, social, health, technical, labor and service staff. This number is increased to two in schools with more than 600 students;
- 2 parent representatives ;
- 2 student representatives.
- The deputy head attends meetings of the health and safety committee. If the head teacher is unable to attend, he or she chairs the meeting.
The prevention doctor, the national education doctor and the nurse attend meetings of the health and safety committee as experts.
Members of the health and safety committee are appointed for the school year.
The list of commission members is permanently posted in a place visible to all and in the workshops.
